Funki G on How to Use the iRealPro App
iRealPro is one of the most widely used tools for playing jazz, because it provides the chord changes for hundreds of jazz tunes. In this video, I will take you on a trip around the iRealPro app one step at a time. The app can be downloaded from iRealPro.com for Mac and Android devices.
The app provides chard charts for literally hundreds of jazz tunes, and sounds for piano, bass and drums.
Using the control panel, you can choose how many times the tune is repeated, and at what tempo.
You can also transpose the key of the tune, which can be helpful if you’re accompanying a singer. If you’re playing with horn players, for which the key would be different, each member of the group can view the tune on their device in the key that is appropriate for their instrument.
You can also change the groove (e.g., jazz, latin or pop) of the tune.
Perhaps most importantly, we can add, delete or adjust the volume of the instruments provided in the app (piano, bass and drums).
In addition, you can easily create a loop by simply highlighting the chord progression you wish to loop
You can edit the chords in a chart if we wish, and save the edits. You can even create a new chart track of our own.
iRealPro comes packaged with hundreds of tunes from which you can choose and add to your own playlist.
There are likely lots of other things you can do in iRealPro, which can be explored at https://www.irealpro.com, or by Googling your question. I have found that Google most often takes me to the user forum on the iRealPro website, where an answer is found.
Have fun using iRealPro!
